Blue Jays Hang 2-1 Loss on Royals
The Bluefield Blue Jays did just enough to sneak past the Burlington Royals, 2-1, at Bowen Field. Bluefield pitcher Juan Delgado, in particular, had a standout performance. Bluefield reliever Juan Delgado got the win, raising his record to 5-0. Trace Bale was tagged with the loss. Victor Gilbert locked down his 4th save.

The Royals had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Blue Jays going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 20-year old third baseman Adrian Evans came to the plate. Evans hit a 2-run double on a 1-0 fastball from Burlington hurler Trace Bale. It was Evans's 4th double of the year.

"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Bluefield skipper Chris Jeffreys.

With the win over Burlington, the Blue Jays improved to 16-17.
