A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Burlington Royals and Kingsport Mets.

The Burlington Royals soundly defeated the Kingsport Mets, 12-4, at Burlington Athletic Stadium, with second baseman Mark Troupe a major reason why. He went 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 4 and driving in 2 for Burlington. Gabriel Ozuna earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 3 runs on 4 hits in 4.2 innings. His record is now 2-1.

Manny Hernandez had a big 2-run double for the Royals in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Burlington leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a cutter from 23-year old left-handed pitcher Jimmy Skuza and swatted a double to left. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Royals ahead, 4-1.

"We hit the ball hard," said Burlington manager Jim Vickery. "Line drive after line drive."

The first-place Royals are 22-10.
