Rays Edge Past Twins, 5-4
|
The home team gave their fans plenty to cheer about, with a thrilling walk-off win.
The Princeton Rays topped the Elizabethton Twins, 5-4, in Appalachian League action at H.P. Hunnicutt Field. The standout performance belonged to Princeton pitcher and Chivacoa, Venezuela, native Adrian Lopes. The Rays, at 19-13, sit in second place in the East.
Ryan Hildebrand was the walk-off hero for Princeton. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Rays shortstop hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"Anyone who says he's not out there thinking about personal accomplishments is not telling the truth," Hildebrand said later.
