The New York Mets and Pittsburgh Pirates were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

The Pittsburgh Pirates picked up a win at PNC Park, knocking off the New York Mets, 6-0. Starting pitcher Chris Niewinski played a key role in the triumph. Gaby Juarbe Jr., now 1-3, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 0 and walking 0.

Pittsburgh took a 1-0 lead on Alex Velazquez's 10th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Velazquez hit in the bottom of the seventh, left New York pitcher Tony Tafaya visibly frustrated.

"Chris is still learning," said Pirates manager Merlyn Evans. "The sky's the limit for him."

The victory puts Pittsburgh at 16-26.
