Pittsburgh 26-16 After 10-4 Win Over New York
|
A 3-RBI performance from Mark Tallman, who finished 5th in the NL in wins above replacement with 5.9 in 2113, helped the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the New York Mets, 10-4. The Pirates win now puts them at 26-16.
Tomas Salas had a big 2-run home run for the Pirates in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Pittsburgh leading 3-2 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a sinker from 31-year old right-handed pitcher Jayson Andrews and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Pirates on top, 5-2.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Salas.
