Reds Down Brewers, 8-3
|
The Cincinnati Reds dumped the Milwaukee Brewers, 8-3, in large part due to shortstop Evan Hensley. On the day, Hensley went 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Reds. Cincinnati reliever Paul Edler picked up the win to move to 1-0. Mike Jenkins suffered the loss. Cincinnati, now 25-19, holds down second place in the National League Central Division.
Early in the game, right fielder Jesus Najera had a 3-run home run for Cincinnati. It was his 13th home run of the season and put the Reds on top, 5-3.
"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Najera told the Cincinnati Bulletin.
