Taft Lifts Twins to 6-5 Win
Behind the hitting of Brian Taft, the Elizabethton Twins clipped the Burlington Royals, 6-5. Taft was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2 for the Twins. John Wilmot picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Manny Rodriguez was tagged with the loss. Elizabethton is first in the West with a record of 22-14.

Elizabethton used the clutch hitting of Mike Trudelle to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Twins ahead, 6-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Trudelle told the Elizabethton Bulletin.
