6-3 Loss Deepens Bluefield Funk

Danny Ayala did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Bluefield Blue Jays from being beaten, 6-3, to the Kingsport Mets at Bowen Field. Ayala went 4 for 4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. The winner was Kingsport reliever Ryan White, now 1-0. The loser was Brady Misiewicz. With the victory, the Mets record stands at 22-14.
Kingsport first baseman Justin Reed contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fourth. With two down, he hit a slider to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 34th hit of the season and put the Mets ahead, 5-2.
"We're in a funk and we need to shake ourselves out of it," said Bluefield manager Nate Todaro.
