In the 6-3 Bluefield win over Kingsport, the impact of Bobby Howell was substantial. Howell, who is tied for 2nd in the APP in doubles with 13, went 3-5 with 2 doubles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Ryan Masterson, the winning pitcher, is now 3-1. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits, while fanning 4 and walking 0. The save went to Willie Guzman, his 1st this season.
With Bluefield leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Howell hit a slider from Rich Arnold for a 2-run double. It was his 13th double of the season and put the Blue Jays ahead, 3-0.
Howell said afterward that he was glad to help his team win.
