Diamondbacks Lose, 4-1
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the San Francisco Giants and Arizona Diamondbacks.
The San Francisco Giants got a stellar performance from pitcher Ramon Pensotti, who handcuffed the Arizona offense en route to a win, 4-1, at Chase Field. San Francisco reliever Mike Billingsley picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Mike Gonzales took the loss. Ivan Sandoval wrapped it up, recording his 15th save.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Sean Hamm? The 28-year old first baseman Hamm stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put San Francisco up, 2-1. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"I just tried to focus on getting that first guy out every inning," said Pensotti.
The Giants now own a record of 25-17.
