Red Sox Jolt Giants, 3-0, with Late Rally
|
Boston (Rk+) pitcher Jim Howe did his part in helping his team beat the San Francisco (Rk+) Giants, 3-0. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Boston (Rk+) reliever Adam Root picked up the win to move to 1-1. Rich Durr suffered the loss. The Red Sox, at 16-25, sit in 6th place in the East.
Boston (Rk+) used the timely hitting of Ben Sherman to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Red Sox on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I know we have our doubters," said San Francisco (Rk+) manager Edwin Espinal. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
