Blue Jays Make It 4 In a Row with 1-0 Triumph Over Boston
|
The Boston Red Sox wasted an impressive 6-inning effort from starter Travis West, falling 1-0 to the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre. The winner in relief was Adam Lyons. He is now 4-2. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. Earning his 3rd save for Toronto was Bryan Bassett.
John Slaff took Travis West deep in the bottom of the sixth. His solo home run put the Blue Jays on top, 1-0. In all, Slaff had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
Afterward, Blue Jays manager Dan Silva was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
Toronto is now 28-16, Boston 26-18.
