Royals Suffer 9-7 Setback
|
Tony Denogean was a major factor in the 9-7 Boston (Rk+) win over Burlington. The Red Sox center fielder was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Luis Mendez, now 1-0, was credited with the win. He allowed 2 runs on 2 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 3. Boston (Rk+) is in 6th place in the East with a record of 17-26.
Ernie Hitchcock aided the Boston (Rk+) cause with a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the third. For the game, the right fielder went 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3.
"We got the victory," said Denogean. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
