Twins Clip Braves, 7-6
|
In a tight contest at American Legion Field, the Elizabethton Twins edged the Danville Braves by the score of 7-6. Elizabethton left fielder Chris Ray, who blasted 1 home run, was a key contributor. Juan Torres came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 4.1 innings. His record now stands at 2-2. The save went to Armando Trevino, number 1 for him.
Ivan Perez, the 21-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Perez contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the first inning to put Elizabethton up, 2-0.
Twins manager Mike Schmeling wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
After today's action, Elizabethton sits at 16-30; Danville slips to 20-27.
