At H.P. Hunnicutt Field, the Princeton Rays and San Diego (Rk+) Padres were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The San Diego (Rk+) Padres topped the Princeton Rays, 5-2, in Appalachian League action at H.P. Hunnicutt Field. The standout performance belonged to San Diego (Rk+) pitcher and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, native Juan Dimas. San Diego (Rk+) reliever Juan Dimas got the win, raising his record to 2-1. Eddie Hines was tagged with the loss.
Collin Barker came through with a big-time hit for San Diego (Rk+). The pinch hitter smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 5-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"I loved our energy," said San Diego (Rk+) manager Jerry Rodriguez. "I loved the way we played."
With the win, San Diego (Rk+) pushed its record to 24-23.
