Nationals Stumble, Lose to Braves
|
The rain did not keep Atlanta and Washington from finishing their game.
The Atlanta Braves picked up a win at Coca-Cola Field, topping the Washington Nationals, 9-3. On the mound for Atlanta was right-hander Johnny Davies. He played a principal role in the triumph. The Braves raised their record to 22-23.
Daniel Thompson had a big run-scoring double for the Braves in the bottom of the second inning. With Atlanta leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Erik McFadden, who is tied for 5th in the NL in wins with 5, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Braves ahead, 2-0.
"I thought he pitched pretty well," said Atlanta manager Dan Hoagland. "Johnny did his part."
