Pirates Use Late Score to Top Mets, 7-6
|
The Pittsburgh Pirates outlasted the New York Mets, 7-6, in 15 innings. Dan Winn played a key role, going 5-for-6 for Pittsburgh. The win was credited to two-time All-Star Josh Schumann in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Danny Nunez took the loss. The first-place Pirates have won 4 in a row.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 15th inning, when Pittsburgh center fielder Brendan Keyes, facing Alex Cofer, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Pirates the 7-6 win.
"This place was rocking at the end," Keyes said.
