The skies opened up and the rain fell at Great American Ball Park.

Behind a solid performance from right fielder Rob Ford, the Cincinnati Reds defeated the Milwaukee Brewers, 12-5. Ford was 2 for 4 with a double and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 4 for the Reds. Reliever Kyle Brent picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Victor Gonzalez, who is tied for 8th in the NL in complete games with 1, took the loss.

Ford contributed a big hit, a bases-clearing double, for Cincinnati in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, Ford took a slider from Pat McGeever and stroked the double to left. His 20th double of the season allowed the Reds to leap in front, 3-1.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Ford.

The first-place Reds have won 5 in a row.
