The Minnesota Twins beat the San Diego Padres, 5-1, at The Pound at Seaport Village. Minnesota left fielder Eric Hemphill had the hot bat. He drew 4 walks. The second-place Twins are now 27-18, the Padres 33-12.

Minnesota went up, 3-1, on Oscar Librado's 9th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Librado hit in the top of the eighth, left San Diego pitcher Josh Lipton feeling irked.

Said losing manager Tim Lentz: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
