Blue Jays Fall, 5-2, to Seattle
|
The Seattle Mariners topped the Toronto Blue Jays, 5-2, in American League action at Safeco Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Seattle pitcher Rick Hutson. Hutson got the win, improving to 3-1. He gave up 9 hits and walked 1 over 7.1 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Jaden Moore sewed up the save, his 10th.
Todd Frank had a big 2-run double for the Mariners in the bottom of the second inning. With Seattle leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a circle change from Billy Demeter, who is rated as the 83rd best prospect by BNN, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 8th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mariners ahead, 4-0.
"We put our best foot forward tonight," said a smiling Hutson.
The second-place Mariners now have a record of 23-21.
