The New York Mets and Colorado Rockies were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

Despite a great performance by New York designated hitter Omar Gomez, the Colorado Rockies defeated the Mets by the score of 8-6 at Colorado Field. Gomez was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Colorado is 4th in the National League Central Division with a record of 22-22.

In the bottom of the third, Mike Woodard hit a 2-run home run. The 12th home run of the season for the Colorado third baseman put the Rockies on top, 2-0.

"There's a lot of passion in our clubhouse," said Woodard. "When we put it together we're a great ball club."
