Boston starter Dave Salvaggio pitched well against the Houston Astros at Fenway Park. The right-hander led his team to a win, 6-4. The winner was Salvaggio. He threw 6.0 innings allowing 4 runs. The loser was Luis Rodas. The win makes Boston 18-28.

Mike Travis had a big run-scoring double for the Red Sox in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Boston leading 3-2 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a sinker from Luis Rodas, who finished 5th in the AL in wins with 17 last year, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 13th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Red Sox ahead, 4-2.

"It was a solid, all-around game for us," said Boston manager Michael Meagher.
