Mike Nall never let the 66ers get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his slider, to pitch the Ports to a win, 4-1. Steve Mitchell earned the save for Stockton, his 20th of the year. The third-place Ports lifted their record to 68-67.
T.J. Holland delivered a solo home run for Stockton in the top of the fourth. The right fielder went 3 for 4 in the game, including 1 home run, 1 single, and 1 double. He scored 1 run and batted in 1.
"Bottom line," said Inland Empire skipper Mike Scarpa, "we didn't play well enough to win."
