The Inland Empire 66ers beat the High Desert Mavericks, 4-3. Inland Empire pitcher and Tampa, Florida, native Ismael Rangel led the way. Jon Ballantine, who is tied for 4th in the CAL in saves with 11, was the winner in relief. His record is now 3-5. The losing pitcher was Enrique Mendez. Inland Empire goes to 74-61, High Desert to 61-74.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Inland Empire. That's when Melvin Rincon hit a run-scoring double off 22-year old right-handed pitcher Enrique Mendez to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"This stadium was a-rockin'," said Rincon.
