Eric Flores, who finished 4th in the AL in ERA with 3.33 last year, was locked in. The right-hander led the Boston Red Sox to a 5-3 win against the San Francisco Giants at Fenway Park. Alexis Cordova picked up his 6th save of the season. With the win over San Francisco, the Red Sox improved to 16-30.

Making an impact for the home team was Chris Farrugia. In the bottom of the sixth, the 27-year old shortstop had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. That made the score 4-2, Red Sox.

"Eric gave us a huge shot in the arm," said Boston manager Michael Meagher.
