Quakes Handle Blaze, Grab 3-1 Win
The Bakersfield Blaze were defeated, 3-1, by the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes at LoanMart Field, even though Branden McDonald pitched well for Bakersfield. Reliever Tyler Cargle picked up the win. His record improves to 5-0. Branden McDonald took the loss. Lee Lewis closed the door for Rancho Cucamonga, picking up his 31st save of the year.

Rancho Cucamonga took the lead, 3-0, on Andy Echavarria's 14th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Bakersfield pitcher Branden McDonald in the bottom of the seventh.

In postgame remarks, Echavarria hailed his team's "single-minded determination."

With the win, the Quakes have a record of 82-55.
