The Modesto Nuts defeated the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, 6-4, at LoanMart Field. Modesto pinch hitter David Pugmire had a superb performance. He went 1 for 1 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Brian Wright, now 2-1, was credited with the win in 2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 0. Mike Calabro finished to wrap up his 2nd save.

Pugmire had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a first pitch changeup from Nelson Escobedo, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Nuts a 5-4 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Pugmire.

Modesto manager Josh Weddington was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard," he said.

Modesto is now 81-58.
