Tyler Pitzer was in a zone of his own most of the day, shutting out the Bakersfield Blaze on 1 hit.

"He was too darn good for us today," grumbled Bakersfield manager Matt Kolb after the 10-0 loss to the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.

Pitzer finished with 12 strikeouts and 3 walks in a strong outing.

In the postgame press conference, Rancho Cucamonga manager Dave Eldon said Pitzer "had good velocity, good movement and had those guys off balance. He just pitched his butt off."
