Boivin Helps Reds Run Win Streak to 7
|
The Cincinnati Reds stopped the Philadelphia Phillies, 7-5, at Citizens Bank Park. The Reds got a big game from Earl Boivin, who was 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times. Cincinnati reliever Juan Mata picked up the win to move to 2-0. Eric Allard suffered the loss. Paul Edler earned the save for Cincinnati, his 3rd.
Cincinnati relied on the hitting of Steve Carbone to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 2-run single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Reds on top, 3-1. For the game, Carbone had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"If the personal accolades come, so be it," said Boivin. "I just want to win ballgames."
The first-place Reds now have a win-loss record of 29-18.
