Reds Dealt 4-1 Loss
|
Chicago Cubs starter Jonathan Hager hurled his team past the Cincinnati Reds, 4-1. Andrew Gray, who finished 4th in the NL in saves with 36 last year, earned the save for Chicago. Chicago is now 25-21.
Chicago won the game in part because of Joe Samples. The catcher ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Cubs ahead, 2-0. For the game, Samples had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
Said Cincinnati manager BJ Gorman: "They pitched the heck out of us."
