Orioles Sting Twins, 3-1
|
The Minnesota Twins got a superb performance from pitcher Adam Pennington, but the Baltimore Orioles still won the game, 3-1. Pennington came in in relief and pitched to 18 batters. Tim Huntress got the save, the 11th for him this season. The second-place Twins now sit at 23-24.
Baltimore won the game in part because of Jeremy Martin. The left fielder ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Orioles ahead, 3-0. For the game, Martin had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"Tough loss," said Minnesota manager Chris Greuling. "But that's how the chips sometimes fall."
