Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Reds
|
The Cincinnati Reds took Philadelphia pitcher Kyle O'Brien's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Citizens Bank Park. The final score had Cincinnati getting past the Phillies, 5-1. O'Brien went 6 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 5. The win was credited to Mike Yates in relief. His record improves to 4-2. Eric House took the loss. Cincinnati is now 30-18, Philadelphia 25-21.
Cincinnati used a clutch hit from Greg Jenniferl to get the win. The catcher drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Reds ahead, 5-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I like the groove we're in," said Jenniferl.
