Jon Young was a vital contributor to the 6-4 Washington victory over San Francisco. The Nationals left fielder was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times. Washington reliever Manny Arellano was credited with the win, to go to 7-0. Nate Torgerson took the loss for San Francisco. Gene Bowman, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.

Washington took a 5-4 lead on Danny Amaya's 5th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Amaya hit in the bottom of the eighth, left San Francisco pitcher Nate Torgerson visibly frustrated.

"I just try to be a dog, have good swings, good at-bats," said Young.

The Nationals now have a mark of 25-23.
