Houston right fielder Edwin Oliva had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Oliva was 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, even as Detroit beat the Astros, 7-3. Detroit is 21-25 and Houston, with the loss, 19-28.

Mike Travis came through with a big-time hit for Detroit. The designated hitter smacked a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 6-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"They had a good approach," Houston skipper Tony Monterosa said of the opposition. "Hats off to them."
