Tigers Hand Houston 6-4 Loss
|
Thanks in large part to shortstop Fernando Martinez, the Detroit Tigers beat the Houston Astros, 6-4. Martinez was 2-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Jen-kan Tow was the winner. He's now 2-3. The loser was Luis Rodas. The Tigers, at 24-22, sit in third place in the American League Central Division.
In the top of the sixth, Detroit right fielder Chayton Buffington had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Buffington stroked a 2-run single to right. It made the score 6-3, Detroit. For the game, he went 1-3 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Buffington told the Detroit Gazette.
