Despite a great performance by Cleveland first baseman Brian Ellis, the New York Mets defeated the Guardians by the score of 8-5 at Citi Field. Ellis was 3-4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. New York reliever Colin Orr picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Matt Mattingly was saddled with the loss. The Mets move to 22-28 with the win, while the Guardians drop to 17-31.

Sam Baia cracked a home run off Matt Mattingly in the bottom of the sixth. His 3-run blast put the Mets on top, 6-3. In all, Baia had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Baia said.
