Cardinals Lose Despite Valiant Effort by Gutshall
The Cincinnati Reds withstood an impressive performance by St. Louis designated hitter Chad Gutshall to defeat the Cardinals, 5-4, at Great American Ball Park. Gutshall slugged 3 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored three times. Reliever Corey Comer picked up the win. His record improves to 3-0. Derrek Romeo, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2107 draft, took the loss. Cincinnati is now 31-19. St. Louis is 27-22.

Michael Morrison hit a 2-run home run off Derrek Romeo in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Reds ahead, 5-3. In addition to the homer, Morrison had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.

"Baseball is about momentum," said Morrison, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
