Angels Sunk by Mariners
|
The Seattle Mariners got a marvelous performance from pitcher Rick Hutson. The left-hander kept the Los Angeles offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 4-1 Seattle victory at Safeco Field. Hutson, the winner, moves to 4-3. He threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks. The Mariners raised their record to 19-30.
The Mariners got a big boost from designated hitter Evan Hendry who had a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the first inning off Angels hurler Fred Szilagyi. It was his 17th walk of the season and put Seattle on top, 1-0.
"That's a solid team effort right there," said Hendry. "Everyone's feeling positive after that win."
