Win Streak Now at 7 for Rays
|
The Princeton Rays defeated the San Diego (Rk+) Padres, 6-3, in Appalachian League action at Ballpark of Glen Ridge. Princeton pitcher Kyle Neely had a standout performance. Neely picked up the win for Princeton, going 6 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 1-1. The save went to Aldomiro Cassiano, his 6th this season.
Brent Lambert had a big 2-run double for the Rays in the top of the first inning. With Princeton leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a screwball from 20-year old left-handed pitcher Antonio Rico and swatted a double to left. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rays ahead, 3-0.
"Winning breeds more winning, I guess," said Neely.
Princeton has now won 7 in a row.
