Mets Sneak Past Nationals, 2-1
|
In a low-scoring clash between New York and Washington, pitcher Dave Baldwin was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned accolades in the 2-1 win. Despite the win, the Mets have a lousy 14-36 record.
New York won the game in the bottom of the 12th inning. With two outs and Joe Pullen on the mound for Washington, first baseman Jeff Hestermann hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Mets fans to their feet.
"Exhilarating win," said Baldwin.
