Reds Knock Off Cardinals at Great American Ball Park
|
The St. Louis Cardinals got a sterling performance from pitcher Hector Gordillo, but the Cincinnati Reds still prevailed, 3-2. Gordillo threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball. Cincinnati pitcher Scott Dwyer got the win, upping his record to 2-1. Hector Gordillo got the loss. Mike Yates earned the save, his 8th, for the Reds.
Dave Truax was 1 for 4 for Cincinnati. The three-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Hector Gordillo. It was his 29th RBI of the season.
"This kind of win will certainly make our fans happy," Truax told the Cincinnati Bulletin.
Cincinnati is now 29-22, while St. Louis is 15-35.
