Luzzo Homers Twice in 5-4 Cubs Win
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Chicago Cubs eventually prevailed.
The Chicago Cubs beat the Milwaukee Brewers by a score of 5-4. Chicago right fielder Kevin Luzzo deserved the lion's share of the credit. Luzzo hit 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice for the Cubs. Mario Gomez, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 12th save.
Luzzo had a timely hit for Chicago in the top of the sixth. With Milwaukee trailing 4-2, he turned a 1-2 changeup into a 3-run home run. It was his 9th home run of the season, making it 5-4, Chicago.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Milwaukee manager Art Matlock said following the tough loss.
The Cubs go to 30-21, putting them second in the National League Central Division.
