5-for-5 Day for Wilson
|
Today at Fenway Park, Pat Wilson put on an impressive display.
The Oakland Athletics first baseman tagged Boston pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats, but his teammates were unable to capitalize on the spree and lost the game to the Boston Red Sox by the score of 10-6.
"The loss takes some of the joy out of it, but I'll take it," Wilson said. "5-for-5 ain't bad in any league."
Despite the terrific performance, the Athletics manager was unwilling to offer the first baseman much praise, saying the "whole roster" is held accountable for losses.
"Pat told me 'Coach, I had 5 hits' and I said 'Well that's great, but it looks like we needed one more from you,'" manager Jon Pearson said.
Pat Wilson hit a two-run home run off Jayden Banks in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Marshall Belill in the 5th, singled in the 7th and doubled in the 9th.
Thus far in 2098 Wilson is hitting .284 with 7 home runs, 27 RBIs, 25 runs scored and has compiled a .350 OBP.
