Angels Earn Win with Late Rally
The Los Angeles Angels beat the Seattle Mariners in a game featuring much hitting but not much pitching. The final score was 12-11, Angels. One of the hitting stars was third baseman Allan Chapman. Chapman, who finished 4th in the AL in wins above replacement with 6.9 in 2107, went 4 for 4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. The win went to Mike James in relief, making him now 4-1. Bill Hanley took the loss for Seattle. The Angels improved their record to 27-24 with the win over Seattle.

Scott Hoagland was the walk-off hero for Los Angeles. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Angels shortstop hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

Seattle manager Huckleberry O'Day said he was disappointed with the loss. "Whenever you score in double digits, you expect to win the game."
