Target Field was the site of a competitive game between the Minnesota Twins and New York Mets.

The New York Mets topped the Minnesota Twins, 5-3, in National League action at Target Field. The standout performance belonged to New York pitcher and East Highland Park, Virginia, native Sean McNees. John Rood earned the save, his 10th, for the Mets.

Mario Vasquez was 1-4 for New York. The 24-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the second. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring single off Alex Serrano. It was his 18th hit of the season.

"Sean did a good job of managing their lineup," said New York manager Rodney Smith.

The slumping Twins have lost 6 straight.
