White Sox Top Tigers, 3-2
|
The Chicago White Sox defeated the Detroit Tigers, 3-2, in American League action at U.S. Cellular Field. Chicago pitcher Jim Tant had a standout performance. Keith Dragisic earned the save, his 7th, for the White Sox. The win gives Chicago a season record of 31-24.
The White Sox got a big hit from center fielder Greg Bates. In the bottom of the fifth, Bates pounded a solo home run to left. His 8th home run of the season put the White Sox ahead, 3-2.
"That's baseball," said Detroit manager Chris Gasparro. "You're not always going to be hitting on all cylinders."
