Greeneville Triumphs with Late Surge
|
At Burlington Athletic Stadium, the Burlington Royals and Greeneville Astros were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The 9-6 Greeneville win over Burlington was due in large part to Edwin Oliva. The Astros designated hitter went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Riley Fitzmaurice earned the save for Greeneville, his 5th of the year.
The game was all tied up in the top of the ninth, until Oliva delivered big-time for Greeneville, stroking a dramatic 2-run double off Joel Wiegand. The game-changing hit put the Astros on top, 8-6.
"We're trying to go out there and win games," Oliva told the Greeneville Daily, "and we played pretty well tonight."
With the win, Greeneville goes to 33-19, while the Royals fall to 26-26.
