Athletics Dismiss Blue Jays, 3-2
|
The Oakland Athletics earned a win at O.co Coliseum, stopping the Toronto Blue Jays, 3-2. Starting pitcher Isaiah Jordan played a big role in his team's success. The winner was Jordan. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Mike Williams. Jesus Rivera finished to wrap up his 15th save.
Jacob Rowley had a big run-scoring double for the Athletics in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Oakland leading 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he got a curveball from Mike Williams, who finished 5th in the AL in ERA with 3.55 in 2108, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 12th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Athletics ahead, 3-1.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Jordan.
The Athletics saw their record improve to 30-24.
