The Boston Red Sox had to overcome a fine effort from New York pitcher Andy Eason to win, 5-3, at Yankee Stadium. Eason went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Robbie Castro got credit for the win, improving to 2-3. He allowed no runs on 3 hits in 1.2 innings. Boston now sports a record of 18-36.

Boston needed the clutch hitting of Cameron Goudy to seal the deal. The first baseman swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Red Sox on top, 4-3. For the game, Goudy had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Boston manager Michael Meagher.
