Yankees Topple Orioles, 6-2
|
The New York Yankees beat the Baltimore Orioles, 6-2, at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The Yankees got a fine performance from shortstop Chris Clark, who was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. New York starter Griff Hill was credited with the win after throwing 98 pitches over 7.1 innings. His record now stands at 4-4. Jon Barton earned the save, his 14th, for the Yankees.
New York used a well-timed hit by Brandon Thomas to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Yankees ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Thomas.
The Yankees go to 26-28, putting them last in the American League East Division.
