Gaither Deals Oakland 3-0 Setback
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Houston Astros and Oakland Athletics.

Mark Gaither pitched a near no-hitter in leading Houston to a 3-0 triumph over the Oakland Athletics. Guillermo Padron finished the game for Houston and earned his 16th save.

Gaither, the winning pitcher, raised his record to 6-1. In 8 innings of work, Gaither gave up no runs on 1 hit, while racking up 7 Ks. He kept the Athletics punchless, offensively.

Gaither said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.

With the win, Houston pushed its record to 30-25.
