Mariners Go Down to Defeat, 6-3
|
The Boston Red Sox topped the Seattle Mariners, 6-3, in American League action at Fenway Park. The standout performance belonged to Boston pitcher and Spokane, Washington, native Josh DeMuth. Scott Duree closed out the game, earning his 13th save. The third-place Red Sox have won 4 consecutive games.
Boston left fielder Billy Thrash contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 45th hit of the season and put the Red Sox ahead, 3-1.
"Pleased with the effort and the win," said Red Sox manager Michael Meagher.
