Giants Get Past Los Angeles for 2-1 Win
|
The San Francisco Giants topped the Los Angeles Dodgers, 2-1, in National League action at AT&T Park. The standout performance belonged to San Francisco pitcher and Indianapolis, Indiana, native Chris Martin. Nate Torgerson earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. His record is now 4-2. The 'W' lifts San Francisco's record to 31-23.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when San Francisco designated hitter Ernesto Pelayo, facing Erik Baggett, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Giants the 2-1 win.
Pelayo called winning a team effort. "It's not the same guy every time," he said. "It's the sum of the parts."
