Braves Rally to Nose Past Pittsburgh
|
The Atlanta Braves and the Pittsburgh Pirates played into extra innings before the winner was determined. The Braves won it, 4-3, in 13 innings. In the game, Atlanta catcher Jared Griesbach was 3-6 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Atlanta reliever Ben Risoldi, now 4-1. The loser was Scott Connell. Constant Eikelboom closed out the game, earning his 1st save.
Greg Somers came through with a big-time hit for Atlanta. The shortstop smacked a solo home run in the top of the 13th inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"It took some blood and sweat, but we got what we were after," said Braves manager Dan Hoagland.
At 27-29, the Braves claim third place in the National League East Division.
